Pick 11: Wayne Milera
An exciting prospect who made his debut in round one. Played eight of the first 11 games before being sent back to the SANFL, where he played as a half-forward and on the wing. The Crows expect him to make a big leap forward next year.
Pick 17: Tom Doedee
Showed his versatility as a defender in the SANFL being able to play on small and tall forwards. An outstanding competitor and is fearless when the ball is up for grabs. Has drawn comparisons to Crows teammate Kyle Cheney.
Rookie selection pick 13: Paul Hunter
The mature-aged ruckman played predominately as a forward in the SANFL with Reilly O'Brien doing most of the ruck work. Retained on the rookie list next year.
Rookie selection pick 17: Jonathon Beech
The former West Adelaide forward was the Crows' state league player of the year. Elevated to the senior list and was named as an emergency late in the season. Retained on the rookie list for 2017.
Rookie selection pick 48: Hugh Greenwood
Signed as a Category B rookie on a two-year contract, the former Australian under-19 basketball representative impressed with his close in skill. Played in the midfield and also on half forward.
Rookie selection pick 58: Alex Keath
Like Greenwood, the former Victorian cricketer signed with the Crows as a Category B rookie on a two-year contract. Improved as the season went along as a key defender. - Lee Gaskin
Pick 2: Josh Schache
Excellent first year for the key forward, who despite copping the opposition's best defender and being starved of inside 50s, showed he has the strength and work ethic to make it. Played 17 games and kicked 16 goals before being rested late in the season.
Pick 14: Eric Hipwood
Progressed quicker than many thought, and alongside Schache gave Lions supporters hope in a bleak season. Needs to add strength to his lanky frame, but marks the ball strongly overhead and is a thumping kick. Should get more chances next season.
Pick 24: Ben Keays
Managed 16 games and was used primarily as a small forward. Has a good defensive mindset, and as he gets fitter Keays will spend more time in the midfield, although earning a spot there will be tough.
Pick 39: Rhys Mathieson
Flew under the radar, but the 19-year-old had an excellent first season, playing 11 games and showing he could mix it in contested ball situations. Needs to improve his fitness and disposal, but has the tools for a long career.
Pick 47: Sam Skinner
A real heartbreak story, Skinner suffered his second ACL injury on the eve of his first senior game. The key defender is due back midway through 2017, but will be eased into it.
Rookie selection pick 2: Jackson Paine
After being played in defence at both senior and reserve levels, Paine was delisted after three seasons at the Lions.
Rookie selection pick 20: Reuben William
The explosive half-back played three senior games in 2016. Needs to get fitter and find more consistency, but with his power and pace, has some great assets. - Michael Whiting
Pick 1: Jacob Weitering
It was a stellar first year for the defender, even though his form tailed off slightly as the season went on. Weitering's composure stood out from his debut game and his aerial work was also impressive. Bulking up will help him combat the strongest forwards in the competition.
Pick 10: Harry McKay
Stress fractures in the key forward's back meant he did not play at any level until half way through the season. McKay is a raw prospect and has to build up his body before he will be able to make an impact at senior level. His height and marking will eventually make him an imposing target.
Pick 12: Charlie Curnow
Injuries and illness hampered the forward in his debut season. Curnow showed signs of promise and will eventually move into the midfield but he needs to build his tank. His concentration can lapse as well, so that is another area for him to work on.
Pick 23: David Cuningham
Hip issues meant the midfielder had an interrupted year but he played the final three games of the season. Cuningham can win his own ball and his burst from the contest is impressive. If he sharpens up his decision-making, he could push for a regular spot in the senior team next season.
Pick 53: Jack Silvagni
Early injuries held the forward back slightly at the start of the season but Silvagni won a place in Brendon Bolton's side after impressive VFL form. He showed smarts in attack but needs to become fitter and stronger.
Rookie selection pick 1: Jesse Glass-McCasker
Carlton is optimistic about the promising key defender. He played 14 games for the Northern Blues this year but Glass-McCasker requires plenty of development. The backman struggled to stay involved in the game.
Rookie selection pick 19: Andrew Gallucci
Shoulder surgery ended the small forward's year early after he drew some hype in the pre-season. Gallucci was delisted at the end of the season.
Category B international rookie: Matt Korcheck
At 208cm, Korcheck's size makes him an imposing figure. The American played 17 games in the VFL this year but he needs more development, with his running and game sense two key areas to focus on. - Dinny Navaratnam
Jack Silvagni celebrates his first AFL goal. Picture: AFL Photos
Pick 32: Brayden Sier
The powerful midfielder/forward took time to adjust to the tempo of VFL football before being struck down by an assortment of injuries (a broken wrist, concussion and back). General fitness and agility will be a key focus.
Pick 58: Tom Phillips
The hard-running midfielder broke through for six AFL games, including the last three rounds, and impressed with his desperation, composure and neat left-foot kicking. Will look to transfer his VFL stoppage work to the AFL.
Pick 63: Rupert Wills
The mature-age, big-bodied onballer played the last five games of the season and was consistent in averaging 17.6 possessions and a superb 8.6 tackles. A fierce competitor, he will need to brush up on his kicking, given he was responsible for 11 clangers in his first four appearances.
Pick 65: Ben Crocker
The aggressive half-forward played 10 games and kicked 10 goals, including an equal game-high three majors against Hawthorn in the last round. Has good hands and is a reasonable set shot and will look to add more polish and stamina to increase his consistency and versatility.
Rookie selection pick 16: Tim Golds
A below-par season as a defender at VFL level resulted in the ex-Giant being delisted.
Rookie selection pick 25: Josh Smith
The pick of the Pies' class of 2015 so far, the disciplined runner from Queensland played every game after making his debut on Anzac Day and averaged 20.8 touches to finish seventh in the club best and fairest. Will be keen to spend more time in an expanding midfield.
Rookie selection (Category B) pick 64: Darrean Wyatt
The Melbourne-born former US college basketballer kicked multiple goals in the VFL on three occasions as a key forward but was discarded at season's end. - Ben Collins
Pick 5: Darcy Parish
The attacking and clever midfielder starred in his first season at AFL level, playing all bar two games in the senior side (he was rested for those). He finished in the top five of the NAB AFL Rising Star award and looks a long-term player for the club.
Pick 6: Aaron Francis
Francis got a taste of things late in the year at AFL level and finished the season with three games to his name. The marking defender needs to have a strong pre-season and improve his engine before becoming a certain starter for the Bombers, but he has immense talent.
Pick 29: Alex Morgan
Soft-tissue injuries ruined Morgan's first season at Essendon. The Bombers drafted him because he has something they don't have much of – pace – so they will be hoping he can get his body right in the second season at the club.
Pick 30: Mason Redman
Redman is lightly framed and has some development to go in that area, but he was lively and energetic across half-forward at senior level in 2016. He likely wouldn't have got the three chances in the AFL side last season without the suspensions of the club's senior group of players.
Pick 54: Mitch Brown
Brown made the most of his second chance at AFL level, settling into Essendon's forward line for the majority of the season before moving to the backline late in the year. He seems best placed to hold down a role next year as a third tall defender once some of Essendon's stars return.
Pick 64: Yestin Eades
The Bombers delisted Eades just one season into his standard two-year deal, but he may be taken as a rookie at the club on November 28. Eades is a small forward who played with the North Ballarat Rebels in his draft season after crossing from WA.
Pick 68: Michael Hartley
Hartley was one of Essendon's real wins in 2016. The former Collingwood-listed defender played 19 games in the Bombers' backline and shut down some key forwards across the year.
Rookie selection pick 4: Gach Nyuon
The Bombers took a gamble on Nyuon as a project player but it hasn't paid off. The ruckman was delisted after one season at the club and minimal impact at VFL level.
Rookie selection pick 22: Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti
The Bombers found a winner in McDonald-Tipungwuti, who was a revelation off half-back for the senior side this year. McDonald-Tipungwuti has been elevated to the senior list and has signed a three-year contract after his breakout season.
Rookie selection pick 39: Will Hams
Hams was re-listed last year as a rookie after being delisted, but has again been delisted this season with his career at Essendon over. The hard-at-it midfielder was a tough and well-liked member of the club.
Rookie selection pick 54: Tom Wallis
The son of two-time Essendon premiership player Dean Wallis was delisted after one season at the club. The left-footed wingman had some injury battles during his stint at the Bombers. - Callum Twomey
Pick 27: Darcy Tucker
Playing 12 games in 2016 was a terrific result for the midfielder, who finished the year with 22 possessions against the Western Bulldogs. Will be a permanent midfield fixture in 2017 as the club promotes youth.
Pick 38: Harley Balic
2016 was nearly a wipeout for the young defender, who was restricted by a wrist injury before playing two reserves and one senior WAFL game late in the year. Effectively a recruit next year, he impressed in that short stint and is fit and ready to attack the pre-season.
Pick 55: Sam Collins
Played a run of 12 consecutive games in 2016 as a mature-age recruit and has an opportunity to cement a role as a tall defender. His composure and work-rate stand him in good stead going into his second season.
Pick 61: Shane Yarran
Suffered knee and calf injuries before playing six late games. All signs pointed up for the skilful 27-year-old forward, but an off-season assault charge is a distraction he doesn't need.
Rookie selection pick 16: Matthew Uebergang
First season ended in round 13 for the defender, who played 11 WAFL games. Back in pre-season training he looks noticeably leaner and ready to build his game to an AFL standard.
Rookie selection pick 34: Ryan Nyhuis
The small defender was a solid performer at WAFL level in his first season before suffering a knee injury that sidelined him for two months. Adding size will be a focus this pre-season to help him shut down opponents at the highest level. - Nathan Schmook
Darcy Tucker is likely to be a regular fixture in 2017. Picture: AFL Photos
Pick 59: Ryan Gardner
Excellent first season as a key defender, playing in the VFL on experienced AFL stars such as Travis Cloke and Tom Boyd. He put on weight and learned the ropes from Cats greats Tom Lonergan and Harry Taylor.
Pick 66: Sam Menegola
Outstanding first season, given a knee injury forced him to miss the first half of the season. Made round 18 debut against Adelaide and kept his spot. By season's end, he had a Brownlow vote and eight games on his resume.
Pick 69: Wylie Buzza
Buzza played forward, backand in the ruck before and after a quad injury. Showed promise despite being raw and will be much better after another pre-season.
Pick 70: Matthew Hayball
Left-field selection that impressed with his ball use. The South Australian is clever but he needs to bulk up and win more of the ball to have an impact.
Rookie selection pick 9: Jock Cornell
Delisted after a reasonable season but ran out of puff at the end of the year.
Rookie selection pick 27: James Parsons
Played some good football in the VFL mid-season and despite tailing off at the end of the year had a satisfactory start.
Rookie selection pick 44: Tom Ruggles
Outstanding season from the mature-aged rookie who played 18 games and one final as a small defender. Capable of improvement in all areas but can compete at the level. - Peter Ryan
Pick 8: Callum Ah Chee
The more the season went on, the better he got. Played mostly at half-forward, but with the Suns' depleted midfield, also spent time in the middle. Very clean hands and should get plenty of games in 2017.
Pick 20: Brayden Fiorini
Injury curtailed much of his year, but the midfielder showed in the final round against Port Adelaide exactly what he was capable of with 32 disposals and two goals.
Pick 34: Josh Schoenfeld
Not much was expected of the super-fit West Australian, but he managed four games at half-back and showed composure beyond his years. Is still very lightly framed and will likely need to get stronger before earning games in a full strength lineup.
Pick 52: Mackenzie Willis
The strong-bodied midfielder had a solid season, playing three games, but will likely be used as a stopgap measure in 2017. Can also play half-back at a pinch.
Rookie selection pick 3: Tom Keough
The South Australian hybrid defender battled injury and form and was delisted after his first season.
Rookie selection pick 20: Darcy MacPherson
Although his season was disrupted by a knee injury, his infectious energy as a small forward caught everyone's eye. Builds his game around defensive pressure and will need to continue that to earn more games in 2017.
Rookie selection pick 38: Ryan Davis
The mature recruit played 19 games and kicked 15 goals and was a mainstay of the forward line. Davis is a good decision-maker and will contribute well if he gets the chance.
Rookie selection pick 53: Cameron Loersch
A lanky project selection, Loersch struggled for much of the season at NEAFL level and was delisted at season's end.
Rookie selection pick 63: Danny Stanley
After six seasons and 83 games for the club, Stanley was cut. Battled injury in 2016 and couldn't crack the top team.
Rookie selection pick 67: Jesse Joyce
Was expected to spend most of the season in the reserves, but when given his chance, Joyce exceeded all expectations. Played at half-back and proved himself one of the best ball users in the club. - Michael Whiting
Pick 7: Jacob Hopper
The highly regarded midfielder lived up to the hype with a brilliant debut in round eight last season, when he racked up 32 possessions against Gold Coast and earned himself a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination. A back injury cost him seven games mid-season, but he made it back for the last four games of the year. He looked comfortable and classy at stoppages and should be set for a massive second season in the competition.
Pick 13: Matthew Kennedy
Showed glimpses of his talent as an onballer in three senior games this year and is another of the Giants’ emerging stars ready for a more significant role in 2017. He will look to make his mark as a forward in the senior with bursts in the midfield as he gains more experience.
Pick 16: Harrison Himmelburg
Drafted as a forward, Himmelberg relished a switch into defence in the 2016 pre-season and averaged 21.7 possessions a game in the NEAFL, before earning his senior debut across half-back in round 17 last season. He looked right at home in his four senior games, where he averaged 13.2 disposals a match playing in defence.
Pick 41 Matthew Flynn
The 19-year-old had a season of development in the NEAFL last year and will be looking to get some more time in the ruck after his second full pre-season. Flynn’s competitiveness impressed the GWS coaching staff and he showed glimpses as a key forward as well.
Rookie selection pick 8: Sam Reid
Worked his way on to the senior list with outstanding and consistent NEAFL form and proved to be a handy option across half-forward in six games late in the season. Will struggle for regular opportunities and was dropped before the Giants' finals campaign, but is a ready and willing competitor when called upon.
Rookie selection pick 26: Daniel Lloyd
Plucked from the New South Wales central coast, Lloyd failed to play a senior game this year, despite promising signs. Gathered plenty of the ball as a midfielder and kicked regular bags of goals in the NEAFL, but will need a lot to go his way to break on to the senior list and into the side. - Adam Curley
Jacob Hopper made a brilliant debut in round eight of 2016. Picture: AFL Photos
Pick 19: Ryan Burton
Missed most of the year with a leg injury, but made a late comeback, making his AFL debut in round 21. Played four senior games, including the qualifying final loss to Geelong. Was drafted as a forward but looked composed in defence against Pies. Will play regularly in 2017.
Pick 22: Kieran Lovell
Managed two senior games in his first season and didn't look out of place in the midfield. Needs to work on his consistency, and his kicking efficiency requires improvement. Proven ball-winner who will get plenty of opportunity next year.
Pick 44: Blake Hardwick
A beautiful kick of the footy, Hardwick made his debut in round 19 after Cyril Rioli was a late out. A handy forward who can push into midfield but does go missing at times. Will be hard for him to push into senior side next year but certainly has potential.
Rookie selection pick 18: Luke Surman
In just his second year playing football, the former basketballer struggled to impact games. Looked undersized in the ruck at times and found it hard to get into games. A project player, who is still learning the game. As with most big men, needs more time to develop.
Rookie selection pick 36: Kade Stewart
Lively half-forward that showed plenty of promise in 2016. Can push into midfield, and has great goal sense. Did well at AFL level on debut, kicking a goal against Melbourne. Will need to add to his slight frame over pre-season but has raw talent.
Rookie selection (international) pick 62: Conor Glass
He spent first half of season back in Ireland at school, but returned to Australia in July. Played six games for Box Hill's development league and showed some good signs in a range of positions. Athletically good but will be given plenty of time to develop his skills and game sense. - Nat Edwards
Pick 4: Clayton Oliver
The big-bodied midfielder made an instant impression, receiving a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination in his first game. Oliver played 13 games in his debut season, regularly displaying his clearance work and ability to win contested ball. Will be a better player once he improves his stamina and finds some easy ball. Pre-season has been soured by a drink-driving charge.
Pick 9: Sam Weideman
The developing key forward had to wait patiently for his turn to play senior football, debuting in round 20. Weideman kicked 25 goals (11th in the competition) from 14 matches for the Casey Scorpions in the VFL. Alongside Jesse Hogan, Weideman's mobility, ground coverage and height will test opposition defences for years to come.
Pick 42: Mitch King
King ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the opening game of the VFL season. The 19-year-old required season-ending surgery. He is back training with his teammates but is not expected to join in full training until after Christmas.
Pick 46: Liam Hulett
A powerful forward, Hulett had a successful start to his career and booted 29 goals in 18 matches (seventh in the VFL) for the Scorpions. Hulett is a sharpshooter in front of goal and has a strong set of hands. Look for him to play senior footy in 2017.
Rookie selection pick 6: Josh Wagner
Wagner was impressive in his first season at AFL level, breaking into the team and holding his position in 14 senior games. He uses the footy well from the back half and is regarded for his versatility. Re-signed for two years and upgraded to the senior list in 2017.
Rookie selection pick 24: Viv Michie
Michie was given a reprieve on Melbourne's rookie list after being delisted at the end of 2015. The midfielder appeared in four senior matches in 2016, but was again delisted by the club after the season had finished.
Rookie selection pick 41: Joel Smith
The son of Melbourne great Shaun made the transition from basketball to football (recruited as a category B rookie) and had a solid year in the VFL. However a lingering groin injury impeded his development somewhat. The Demons are developing him as a rangy forward because of his athletic traits. - Ben Guthrie
Pick 21: Ben McKay
The strong-marking key forward came on nicely at Werribee, booting 15 goals in 15 games. Has signed until 2019 and should be in the mix for a senior debut next season, especially if he starts finding more of the ball in general play.
Pick 31: Ryan Clarke
Was a surprise packet in 2016, winning a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination in round 18 against Collingwood. The prolific and hard-running onballer managed six AFL games and is a promising prospect. Sharpening his kicking will be a focus over pre-season.
Pick 33: Mitchell Hibberd
Drafted as a damaging half-back flanker, Hibberd moved onto a wing late in the VFL campaign and used his endurance to find plenty of the ball. Will keep working on his competitiveness over the off-season.
Pick 43: Corey Wagner
The hard-working forward was the first of the Roos' 2015 draft class to debut and managed four senior appearances midway through the campaign. Impressed all year with his tireless effort, just needs to find more of the ball.
Pick 60: Declan Mountford
Was named an emergency several times last season but didn't crack a senior debut and was the only Roo to play every game for Werribee. Was used in run-with roles and still has plenty of upside if he improves his disposal.
Rookie selection pick 15: Farren Ray
Joined North to provide some experience, run and depth to the midfield but the former Bulldog and Saint retired at the end of the season after only four games in royal blue and white.
Rookie selection pick 33: Majak Daw
Career appeared at the crossroads when he was delisted and re-drafted as a rookie, however the athletically-gifted big man made more of his chances last year – kicking four goals in the elimination final loss - and should be pushing for the best 22 next season after signing a three-year deal. - Travis King
Pick 37: Riley Bonner
Had to wait until round 23 for his AFL debut, but made the most of it with 22 possessions in the Power's win against Gold Coast. A hamstring complaint affected the defender's pre-season, while he also was sidelined with a glute injury.
Pick 45: Aidyn Johnson
Injuries restricted the pacy winger to just five SANFL games. Missed six weeks in April and May with a hamstring problem before he had another serious hamstring issue at the start of July.
Rookie selection pick 10: Will Snelling
The hard-working inside midfielder had 15 touches in his AFL debut against Gold Coast in round 23. Started the season strongly before a foot injury sidelined him for a month.
Rookie selection pick 28: Cameron Hewett
Developed his game in the SANFL playing in a new role across half forward. Missed a couple weeks with a finger injury mid-way through the season.
Rookie selection pick 45: Dan Houston
Drafted as a forward, Houston showed promise in the SANFL when shifted to defence. Struggled with a hip complaint in the early part of the season.
Rookie selection pick 57: Kane Mitchell
The experienced midfielder played four games for the Power from rounds 15-18. Delisted after 35 games in four seasons. Set to play in the WAFL with Claremont next year. - Lee Gaskin
Pick 15: Daniel Rioli
Played 18 games and kicked 13 goals in a debut season that set a strong foundation for his future as a small forward. Will work on increasing fitness base and should attack his second season with confidence.
Pick 50: Oleg Markov
Looks a steal after impressing in eight games in 2016. Adding bulk and settling into a position should be a focus for the exciting Tiger, who could play back, forward or midfield.
Pick 67: Nathan Broad
The mature-age recruit wasn't able to establish himself in 2016 but has another year to take his belated AFL chance. Providing drive off half-back appears to be his strength if he can polish his ball-use and composure at the top level.
Rookie selection pick 12: Callum Moore
Struggled in two late senior games, but that shouldn't take away from the impressive signs show in the VFL. A high-leaping forward, he should push for promotion in 2017 with a strong pre-season.
Rookie selection pick 30: Mabior Chol
Another tall who struggled on debut, Chol, who played down back at times, enters next season knowing the standard he needs to reach. Eliminating concentration lapses in games will be important.
Rookie selection pick 47: Adam Marcon
Recruited as a 23-year-old after dominating at VFL level, Marcon played two matches before being delisted. - Nathan Schmook
Daniel Rioli managed 18 games in his debut season with the Tigers. Picture: AFL Photos
Pick 18: Jade Gresham
The small forward impressed in his debut year, playing 18 games and showing the skills to eventually move into the midfield. Perhaps his biggest issue will be building his tank, but once he does that, Gresham's skill, toughness and elusiveness will make him a star.
Pick 40: Brandon White
A rebounding defender, White made his debut in the final game of the season. His kicking skills and toughness stood out in the VFL and his 188cm frame means he has the versatility to play on opponents of different sizes. However, White has a lot of work to do on his endurance, particularly if he wants to eventually push up to a wing.
Pick 49: Bailey Rice
The backman did not play in the senior team this year. St Kilda recruited him for his kicking and toughness but Rice needs to become fitter before he becomes a regular senior player.
Rookie selection pick 5: Nick O'Kearney
A broken arm in the early rounds this year held the midfielder back but he showed he could win the ball when he lined up for Sandringham. Injuries would likely have to befall the Saints if O'Kearney is to be selected in the senior team.
Rookie selection pick 23: Nick Coughlan
The backman can take an overhead mark but at 193cm, he is shorter than fellow key defenders Jake Carlisle and Nathan Brown. Another summer in the weights room will see him push closer for a senior berth.
Rookie selection pick 40: Josh Saunders
Delisted by the Saints after four seasons. He worked hard in the midfield for Sandringham and was often prominent but Saunders was not able to play in Alan Richardson's side this year. - Dinny Navaratnam
Pick 3: Callum Mills
Lived up to the hype of his selection as the No.3 draft pick with an outstanding debut season last year, and was named the NAB AFL Rising Star winner. Averaged 18.6 disposals across half-back where he showed courage and maturity beyond his years. Overcame a hamstring strain to make it back for the Grand Final, and while he wasn't his usual self, the experience will do the 19-year-old wonders.
Pick 51: Tyrone Leonardis
After seeing some senior opportunities in the NAB Challenge, Leonardis showed some promise while developing in the NEAFL. He averaged 15.5 possessions in 16 games and kicked 10 goals playing on the wing. Another pre-season should enable the skilful Victorian to push for more game time at the highest level early this season.
Pick 56: Jordan Dawson
The South Australian key forward prospect showed some promising signs in the NAB Challenge, but struggled for consistency during the premiership season. Dawson kicked 18 goals and averaged 17.6 possessions in 12 NEAFL games and should benefit from another pre-season to push for a debut this season.
Rookie elevation: Sam Naismith
Took a major step forward last year when Kurt Tippett and Callum Sinclair went down in the second half of the season. Naismith played the last 12 games of the season, including all four finals, used his athleticism and tap work to be a major influence on the Swans midfield group, and became a big presence at stoppages. A shoulder reconstruction at the end of the season meant another delayed start to the summer.
Rookie selection pick 14: Tom Papley
A revelation last year, finishing second in the club's goalkicking after booting 29 goals from 20 games, including nine in four finals. His energy and tackling pressure inspired the team at ground level. Now a permanent part of the senior list, the 20-year-old again will be an important part of John Longmire's forward structure.
Rookie selection pick 32: Harry Marsh
After being delisted following three seasons without a senior game and placed on the rookie list at the end of 2015, Marsh responded with his best year at the Swans last year. The West Australian was outstanding in defence at NEAFL level and played seven games, including three finals. - Adam Curley
Debut seasons don't come much better than that of Callum Mills. Picture: AFL Photos
Pick 28: Luke Partington
Signed a one-year contract extension before the start of the 2016 season and racked up plenty of the ball at East Perth – averaging 20.5 disposals. An AFL debut shouldn't be far away for the hard-working midfielder.
Pick 36: Tom Cole
Was the only Eagles draftee to break through for a senior debut last season, playing two games and impressing with his composure across half-back. West Coast will hope the youngster can eventually add to its midfield depth.
Pick 57: Kurt Mutimer
Speedy midfielder who was plagued by hamstring issues in his debut AFL season but is looked upon by the club as a long-term player. Built better form as the season went on and will be keen to exert a bigger influence on games in 2017.
Pick 62: Matthew Allen
Tall forward who kicked 10 goals in as many senior WAFL games for East Perth and showed some promise. His challenge will be to have a consistent impact next season.
Rookie selection pick 17: Jordan Snadden
The big-bodied inside midfielder spent most of last season developing in East Perth's reserves side and finished off strongly in the final three League matches. Needs to work on becoming more consistent.
Rookie selection pick 35: Brant Colledge
After being delisted at the end of the 2015 campaign and re-drafted, Colledge failed to add to his three AFL games and was axed at the end of the season. - Travis King
Pick 25: Josh Dunkley
After being overlooked by the Swans as a father-son recruit, the 19-year-old inside midfielder went on to notch 17 games and play in a premiership. Kicking is the only knock on his impressive game at the moment.
Pick 26: Kieran Collins
The hulking key defender spent the majority of 2016 impressing at VFL level, but managed to make his debut in round nine. While the club is happy with his development, he'll need to improve his agility.
Pick 35: Marcus Adams
The mature-aged key defender was a revelation this season, holding his own against the AFL's best monster forwards until injury ended his season in round 15. The Dogs will be hoping the West Australian can overcome homesickness.
Pick 48: Bailey Williams
Master recruiter Simon Dalrymple appears to have unearthed another late steal after the South Australian impressed in six games. The midfielder is tough, composed and is a smart user of the footy.
Rookie selection pick 11: Brad Lynch
The lightly-built running defender had a very good season at VFL level, with his run and carry a feature. If he can work on his physicality, the West Australian looms as another rookie bargain for the Dogs.
Rookie selection pick 29: Luke Goetz
The ruckman struggled with the demands of a professional footballer and was delisted mid-season after just a few games in the VFL.
Rookie selection pick 46: Jed Adcock
Brought in for insurance, the former Brisbane Lions skipper was serviceable across seven games. Retired at season's end and will take up a coaching role at the Lions. - Ryan Davidson
