CASEY coach Brad Gotch runs through the Melbourne-listed players who played for the Scorpions in round 20

Seniors

Coburg Tigers 18.9 (117) d. Casey Scorpions 15.12 (102), Mutliplex Oval (Coburg City Oval), Saturday, August 13, 2pm

Troy Davis: Had nine touches, three marks and four spoils. Troy played on a lot of different types, which is a great experience for him. He got caught out defensively a couple of times.

Matthew Bate: Bater was very good. He had a slow start after he looked like he had hurt a hamstring early. Came back though, which was fortunate, and gathered 25 possessions, eight marks, three goals and six team acts. I had to throw him in the midfield during the second half, so we could have a strong body in the mix. And he did well too.

Matthew Warnock: Matty struggled again this week for some reason. He got caught a couple of times early, which is very strange. I moved him forward for a stint in the second quarter, but he had no impact. He had eight touches, no marks and six spoils. It was not the normal Warnock we’ve come to expect at this level.

Tom McDonald: Tom was used back and forward with Rob Campbell going down injured. He played a fair bit at centre half forward. He had 10 touches, four marks and seven team acts for the day.

Jack Fitzpatrick: Jack looked dangerous early before Campbell went down, which forced him to take on the No.1 ruck position. Jack battled tirelessly to end up with 13 possessions, seven marks and three team acts, plus he provided a solid ruck contest.

Jamie Bennell: Jamie was good. He had 15 touches, kicked one goal and had four team acts. He was thrown around a bit - from the wing, to defence and up forward. He made a contribution in each area. But only one touch in the last quarter was a concern though.

Tom McNamara: He was very good. He had 25 possessions, numerous clearances and was strong with his body work. He had six marks and four team acts. Apart from a 10-minute patch, early in the last quarter, I thought Tom battled on grandly against the odds.

Robert Campbell: He was injured early in the second quarter. He started the game very well, but then knocked himself out trying to pressure an opposition player.

Neville Jetta: He was good. Neville had 21 touches and nine tackles, but played mainly as a midfielder this week. He tired a little late, because we had to keep him out there more than what we would normally.

Kelvin Lawrence: Kelvin was OK. He only had eight touches. Considering what he showed last week, he was disappointing, but he still managed to do some very good pressure skills. He ended up with nine team acts, which included six tackles. He needs to try and hit the scoreboard more by working harder to the fall of the contest.

Reserves

Casey Scorpions 18.9 (117) d Coburg Tigers 11.13 (79), Mutliplex Oval (Coburg City Oval), Saturday, August 13, 11pm

Rohan Bail: Rohan played 60 per cent game time. It was his first game back after a lengthy lay off. He kicked a couple of nice goals and got into the play and used his running capacity. But he needed the run and he will now be available for Casey seniors next week.

Lucas Cook: Cooky had a lot of score assists - most of the time he was involved in the play, a scoring opportunity came from it. After half-time, he utilised his space up forward. He took a few nice contested marks. His performance was good.

Cameron Johnston: His performance was below par, but we found out afterwards that he had been suffering from an illness. He decided to play on with the flu, so he’s learned a good valuable lesson there - can you play on or perform? We’d expect a much better showing from him next week.
