MELBOURNE'S starting side may be bolstered with key inclusions ahead of Round 2, with four players made available for selection.
Steven May (calf), Jack Viney (knee), Bayley Fritsch (foot) and Christian Salem (thyroid) were all ruled out of the team's Round 1 match against the Bulldogs, but have made positive strides in their schedule for return.
Melbourne's High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith provided an in-depth update on the quartet of players.
"We had our main training session today and they all integrated into the full training session," Griffith told Melbourne Media.
"All four of them trained really strongly today and it was a really great, positive step forward to their availability for Round 2."
With the four players made available for this weekend, the sole remaining player left on the club's injury list is young gun Taj Woewodin, who underwent surgery on a dislocated finger.
"He's now had clearance to be able to sweat post-surgery, so the benefit for him is that he'll be able to get in a good load of running and some conditioning under his belt before he returns," Griffith said.
"Unfortunately, he'll be restricted from contact and ball-work for a small period of time, so we're just working with Taj on building out his program to make sure we can maximise [the use of] this time."
