The 18 AFL captains have chosen their picks for some of the AFL’s biggest awards and accolades for 2023, with Melbourne featuring strongly in Brownlow and finals predictions.
Each captain shared their opinion on which club will be seen still in the mix late into September, whilst tipping which individuals they think will dominate on field.
Melbourne’s number 13, Clayton Oliver was tipped by skippers around the league as the 2023 Brownlow Medallist, after a stellar outing in 2022 polling 25 votes and securing fifth place.

It was a Melbourne and Brisbane majority sweep for the AFLW Grand Final, with six of the AFL captains backing a repeat of 2022 Grand Final.
Four captains see believe Melbourne will reach the AFL’s biggest day of the year and 15 are see the Demons playing finals football, following their top 2 finish in the 2022 home and away season.
Whilst Melbourne young gun Judd McVee polled one vote for the Rising Star award after a solid pre-season under his belt.
