ALAN RICHARDSON has praised Melbourne’s senior coaching staff for their commitment to the club and dedication ahead of the 2023 season.

Melbourne retained the services of key assistant coaches over the off-season despite the interest from opposition clubs.

Richardson expressed his excitement to bring back his senior staff on SEN Breakfast.

“I think you're referring mainly about Yze and Troy Chaplin and they're terrific coaches where, you know, we'd be disappointed to lose them,” Richardson said.

“We think it’s good for the individuals and we think it’s good for the program to have those opportunities to be able to go to those positions.

“We'd be incredibly proud if they got a senior coaching opportunity. So our philosophy is to support quite strongly in terms of their development.”

The experienced coaching staff were developed and pushed but had all focus remain on the Dees’ pre-season preparation.

“We've been pretty active in that space to make sure that they're as ready as they can be, but with a real understanding of their focus.”

“We're talking about two great people that will never let their own personal ambition get in the way of our agenda, and that is to be brilliant coaches for their respective lines.”
