LAST WEEK, members were informed of the Club's upcoming Director Election and Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Ahead of the Election and AGM, see below for an overview of frequently asked questions on these matters.
FAQs - Annual General Meeting
What am I being asked to vote on?
There are currently two separate items Members are invited to vote on – the MFC Board Director election and a Members’ Resolution that has been put forward as part of the upcoming AGM. These are two separate voting processes.
What is the Members’ Resolution?
The Members’ Resolution proposes change to the recently revised Constitution. The club is obligated by law to put this resolution to members at the AGM.
What is the MFC Board’s advice regarding the Members’ Resolution?
The Board advice is for members to vote against the Members’ Resolution. You can read more on the Board’s position here.
How do I vote on the Members’ Resolution?
You can vote by attending the AGM in-person or you can nominate a proxy (a person who is an eligible member of the club and will be at the meeting in person) to vote on your behalf.
You can appoint a proxy through the email received by CorpVote. You will require your Voter Access Code, which is outlined in the email, as well as your Melbourne Football Club member number, which is also provided below. You can also click here.
I have already allocated my proxy vote - can I change it?
Yes, you can change your proxy vote by going through the online voting process again. Your most recent/last proxy vote will be the one that counts.
Can’t I just allocate my vote (proxy) to the President to cast on my behalf?
The President is the Chair of the meeting and yes, you can appoint the Chair (President) as your proxy to direct your vote for you.
If you nominate the Chair as your proxy you can either direct the Chair to vote for, against or to abstain from the resolution for you; or you can allocate your vote to the Chair to cast on your behalf. To do this, select ‘continue’ when you are asked to vote for, against or to abstain on the resolution.
Can I attend the AGM?
Yes, members are welcome to attend the AGM in-person. The AGM will be held on Monday 20 February at 6.30pm AEDT, in the Olympic Room, Gate 3, Level 2 of the MCG. The AGM will also be livestreamed for members who wish to watch but are unable to attend.
How do I vote in the Director Election?
You must lodge your vote online through the email received by CorpVote. To vote in the Director Election you will require your Voter Access Code, which is outlined in the email, as well as your Melbourne Football Club member number, which is also provided below.
Voting for the Director Elections will close at 5pm AEDT on Tuesday 14 February.
What if I vote in the Director Election, and then change my mind?
You can only vote once in a Director Election.
Why am I getting emails from CorpVote?
As agreed by members in the recent Constitutional changes, the Club now has an electronic service for all voting processes. CorpVote is managing the online voting processes for both the Director Elections as well as proxy voting for the Annual General Meeting.
