MELBOURNE has finalised its jumper numbers for 2023, with five of the club's eight new players securing their inaugural AFL guernseys.
Two existing Demons have also opted to don new numbers for the upcoming season.
Jacob van Rooyen will wear No.2 (formerly No.21), which was worn most recently by club life-member and 302-game Demon, Nathan Jones.
Joel Smith will move to No.29 (formerly No.44), a particularly special number for the Smith family, with Joel’s father, Shaun having worn No.29 over his 62 games in the red and blue.
Melbourne’s trade acquisitions Brodie Grundy, Lachie Hunter and Josh Schache will don No.6, No.12 and No.19, respectively.
While young Demons Matt Jefferson (No.21), Jed Adams (No.26), Will Verrall (No.28), Oliver Sestan (No.38) and Kyah Farris-White (No.43) will all be eager to pull on their first AFL jumpers.
The remainder of the list will head into the 2023 season with the same numbers from 2022.
