The Melbourne Football Club has appointed David Dunbar as its full-time Innovations Coach.
Dunbar is highly regarded in football circles, with an extensive football resume to his credit. He coached Port Melbourne in the VFL from 2000 to 2003, was based in Melbourne working for Fremantle in recruiting and opposition analysis in 2004, and most recently coached East Fremantle in the WAFL for the past three seasons.
MELBOURNEfc's GM Football, Chris Connolly, said, “We are delighted to gain the services of David, who is well respected throughout the football industry.
“David has a terrific understanding of the game, having coached in the VFL and WAFL over the past eight years. He will work closely with Dean Bailey and the match committee in the analysis of opposition clubs.”
Dunbar said, “I’m looking forward to working in this role with the Melbourne Football Club. I’m excited about the opportunity to work with Dean and the coaching committee.”
Dunbar replaces Barry Prendergast as Innovations Coach after Prendergast was appointed to the role of Recruiting Manager. Dunbar joins MELBOURNEfc’s coaching panel of Dean Bailey, Paul Williams, Josh Mahoney, Sean Wellman (assistants), Kelly O’Donnell, Mark Williams (development), and Andy Lovell (Sandringham).
