Grundy shortly after arriving at AAMI Park on Wednesday.

THE prospect of working with Melbourne’s talented midfield group has the incoming Brodie Grundy champing at the bit to get stuck in at the centre circle of the MCG.

Grundy arrived at AAMI Park on Wednesday with the excitement for what’s ahead as the overriding emotion after a whirlwind 24 hours.

After 10 years, 177 games, two best-and-fairests and two All Australian selections with the Collingwood Football Club, it’s been a period of heightened emotions for the new Demon.

“There was initial relief,” Grundy told Melbourne Media.

“And then yeah, start looking to the future and getting really excited about my role and what I can contribute to the team.

“It's my first day wearing the Melbourne colours, it feels awesome to come in and yeah my head's still spinning to be honest.

“It happened less than 24 hours ago. So yeah, lots of emotions. But the overwhelming sense is… excitement and real gratitude from Melbourne.

“I'm quite nervous, still probably overwhelmed and as I'm sure as I integrate in you'll see my personality come through,” Grundy said.

Initial discussions with his new coach have Grundy already feeling at home in the red and blue.

“Speaking to Simon Goodwin throughout the process, it became really evident that yeah, they saw some value in me and made me feel really supported and connected to the program without even stepping foot in the in organisation,” Grundy said.

“I really felt that that sense of care and and understanding about what I can bring and where my best footy is in terms of going forward at Melbourne.

“I'm really feeling all the support already, the supporters have been fantastic and really looking forward to meeting them all in due course.”

Working in tandem with Max Gawn with a midfield mix that includes names such as Petracca, Oliver and Brayshaw has Grundy excited to get his hands dirty.

“Obviously, the recent success of what you guys have been able to be a part of… I'm really keen to contribute in that space.

“The midfield is definitely, a highly sought after elite mix and to be able to rub shoulders with the crew in there and make something really exciting for 2023 and beyond.

“Melbourne's a club with lots of rich history and I'm looking forward to making an impact next year.”
