MELBOURNE returned home from Perth unscathed last weekend, looking to field a strong side against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday.
And Mick Stinear – the club’s senior coach, who just received a contract extension – may have a headache at the selection table if Casey Sherriff is to finish the week strongly on the training track.
The 24-year-old was unavailable for her side's clash with Fremantle last Sunday, but AFLW High Performance Manager Sam Batterton is hopeful she will be ready to face the Dogs.
“Casey missed our trip to Perth with some general soreness last week but depending on her training loads, could be back this weekend,” he told Melbourne Media.
In other news, former Cat Jordan Ivey (foot) still has a big role to play in the Demons’ push for finals, eyeing a return in the coming weeks.
“Jordi is making steady progress with the rehab of her foot and will look to be available for selection in one to two weeks,” Batterton said.
“Georgia Gall has also had a good week on the track and is progressing well in her re-integration into training.”
There have been some positive signs in the long-term rehab group as well, with Gabby Colvin (ACL) and Eliza McNamara (back) beginning some low-level skills work with the main group.
