Melbourne has used it first selection in the pre-season draft to select exciting talent, Liam Jurrah.

Jurrah, hailing from Alice Springs is a 188cm marking forward who shows great athleticism, quickness and has a good kicking ability.

Melbourne Recruiting Manager Barry Prendergast said  “Liam is a freakish talent who has come from the communities in central Australia.  He played four games for Collingwood in the reserves and showed he has elite talents to play AFL football.

“Given he was a late nomination for the National Draft, Liam got through to the Pre Season Draft after gaining special consideration from the AFL. It would have been surprising that his talents would not have been recognized if he was available in the National Draft.”

“We see Liam as a tall marking forward, who can compliment the selection of Jack Watts in the National Draft.”
