SOME players are built for the moment.

Kysaiah Pickett is one of those.

And when a hero was needed on Saturday night, the No.36 delivered.

“Everyone dreams of that,” Pickett told Melbourne Media post-game.

“It’s just unbelievable that the goal went through.

“I don’t know what to say – I’m just happy as to get the win.”

The Demons trailed by seven points with just over a minute remaining in their crucial clash with Carlton at the MCG.

But despite the challenge, Pickett never lost faith.

“When (Charlie) Curnow kicked that goal [it was] pretty frustrating, but the forward group was pretty calm,” he said.

“We trained it during the week so for us to execute it was just unreal.”

Jake Melksham’s fourth goal of the night put Melbourne within a kick, and at that stage, Pickett sensed the occasion.

“I was just hoping to get the ball,” he said.

“I wanted to kick the goal and luckily enough I was able to do that.”

The Demons’ small forward doesn’t need to have too much of the footy to have an impact, booting two massive majors from his 12 disposals in Round 22.

And his knock-out blow has handed Melbourne some serious momentum ahead of the final game of the home and away season.

“We always take confidence from wins and that’s a big win,” Pickett said.

“For us to be top-two now I think it is, this was very good to get some confidence back and be back on the winners’ list.”
