MELBOURNE youngsters Judd McVee, Andy Moniz-Wakefield and Deakyn Smith have all agreed to new contracts and will remain in the red and blue next season.
The trio of players have signed deals which will see them retain a spot on the Demons’ rookie list for season 2023.
List Manager Tim Lamb said he was excited about what each has been able to show since joining the club.
“Deakyn has shown a lot of improvement in his time with us and we are confident that his terrific attitude and work ethic will see his natural talent continue to shine through,” Lamb told Melbourne Media.
“Judd has adjusted to life as a professional athlete really well and we are starting to see his confidence grow and his game improve on the back of that. He has all the tools to be a really good player.
“Andy has fitted in really well and had an instant impact on the group. We have seen snippets of what he can produce and with another pre-season under his belt, we are excited about what the future holds for him.”
Smith joined the Demons as a Pre-Season Supplemental Selection last year and has played 14 games for the Casey Demons, averaging 11 disposals and three marks per match. He had a season-high 21 disposals and 10 marks in Casey’s round one clash against Sandringham earlier this year.
McVee, a classy half back, found his way onto the Demons’ list after playing for East Fremantle in the WAFL. The 19-year-old has been a regular in the Casey Demons line-up, playing 15 matches, while averaging 11 disposals and three marks per game.
Moniz-Wakefield has played 12 games in the undefeated Casey Demons side, contributing nine goals over the course of the season to date. In addition to hitting the scoreboard, Moniz-Wakefield has averaged 11 disposals, three marks and two tackles.
The trio join a host of players who have recommitted with the club this year, including stars Clayton Oliver and Angus Brayshaw.
