MELBOURNE will receive a big boost in Round 12, with four Demons set to be available for selection.
James Harmes, Ed Langdon, Tom McDonald and Christian Salem will all train with the main group this week, putting them at Simon Goodwin’s disposal in the lead up to the Demons’ clash with Sydney.
The Dees were without Langdon (ribs) and McDonald (ankle) when they faced Fremantle last week, but after one week on the sidelines they should both be ready to return.
Harmes has missed two weeks after injuring his hamstring against the Eagles in Perth, while Salem’s return would come after an 11-week break, following a knee injury in Round 1.
In more positive news, Harry Petty will be in the clear to play after some concern around his fitness against the Dockers.
The key defender was dealing with a knee niggle throughout the match, but scans have cleared him of any damage, allowing him to continue training in full this week.
Melbourne has copped one blow on the back of Round 11, after Steven May was subbed out of the match with concussion.
May has entered the AFL’s Concussion Protocols and should be ready to return to the side for the Queen’s Birthday clash with the Pies.
