THE BUSIEST NAB Trade Period ever is expected to unfold when clubs begin formal negotiations next Monday.

But in the meantime talks behind the scenes will go into overdrive as clubs – and players – jockey for position before sitting down at the trade table, with free agency offers to start from this Friday.

AFL.com.au's Trade Winds will provide a round-up of the latest action every morning until the end of the Trade Period on Thursday, October 22.

Big Eagles in Swans' sights

The emergence of Callum Sinclair as Nic Naitanui's sidekick at West Coast could squeeze out a ruckman from the Eagles.

And the Sydney Swans are circling – as reported in AFL.com.au's trade whispers last week.

Scott Lycett fell down the pecking order after signing a four-year deal to stay in Perth last year, but only played six games and none of the finals series.

Sinclair told the Herald Sun after the Grand Final loss that his future was at the Eagles and he had no intention of leaving.

West Coast has been strongly linked to Swans speedster Lewis Jetta, who wants a trade back to Western Australia, and one of the Eagles' ruckmen could become a bargaining chip in negotiations.

Hawks to stay in the nest?

Meanwhile, premiership-winning Hawks swingman Ryan Schoenmakers is expected to stay at Hawthorn, despite interest from the Swans.

Hawthorn expects clubs to make bids for the out-of-contract left-footer, with the Swans particularly keen to secure some more key position depth.

But The Age reports the Hawks are confident of keeping hold of Schoenmakers, who booted a goal and had 21 possessions in the Grand Final rout of West Coast.
