A DOMINANT display from Melbourne’s Clayton Oliver has seen the midfielder earn top votes in the race for the AFLCA’s Champion Player of the Year.
Oliver was instrumental in Melbourne’s 22-point win over Richmond on Sunday night with a game-high 41 disposals, 22 contested possessions and 13 total clearances.
The 24-year-old, who received 10 votes, was one of six Demons to poll in the ANZAC Day Eve match, with Ed Langdon not far behind with seven.
Langdon was highlighted for his unwavering work along the wing as he collected 30 disposals, seven score involvements and one goal.
Steven May (three votes) and Christian Petracca (two votes) were next in the Melbourne vote-getters, recognised for their performances across the backline and midfield, respectively.
Angus Brayshaw and Tom Sparrow were the final Demons to receive votes, with one apiece.
Oliver and Petracca now sit within the top five of the leaderboard, behind Andrew Brayshaw, Patrick Cripps and Callum Mills.
