MELBOURNE Football Club has unveiled its 2022 ANZAC Day Eve Guernsey its AFL players will don in the Round 6 marquee match against the Tigers.

Working in conjunction with New Balance, the guernsey has been designed to honour the brave ANZACs who protect and serve for their country.

The design incorporates a field of poppies as a symbol of remembrance, while also paying tribute to the club’s past players who lost their lives in World War I and II, with their names emblazoned on the back.

This year will mark the seventh instalment of the ANZAC Day Eve clash, with the Melbourne players donning a special ANZAC tribute guernsey, designed in collaboration with New Balance, every year since the marquee match’s inception (with the exemption of 2020 when the season was halted due to the COVID-19 lockdown).

The ANZAC Day Eve fixture has become known for its stunning pre-match spectacle; the MCG lights are dimmed and the crowd rises in respectful silence as the Cauldron is lit and a touching rendition of ‘The Last Post’ echoes around the stadium.

In regards to their on-ground results, The Demons and Tigers can’t be split, with both teams tied at three wins apiece across the marquee match’s six-year history.
