MELBOURNE is pleased to announce a new, two-year partnership with Newmont Corporation, the world’s leading gold company.

Through the partnership, Newmont will be recognised as an Official Partner of the Melbourne Football Club, and will support the club’s game, development and community outreach activities across Central Australia.

Newmont will be the Match Day Partner for the Demons’ home clash in Alice Springs and support Melbourne’s Next Generation Academy (NGA). In addition, the partnership will support outreach visits and activities that build awareness and address the issue of Otitis Media in Warlpiri communities.

Alex Bates, Newmont Australia’s Regional Senior Vice President, said the company has a long-term commitment to the communities in Central Australia, and the partnership will create additional opportunities to connect and engage.

“We are very pleased to be partnering with the Melbourne Football Club in the Northern Territory,” Bates said.

“Through the appeal of AFL and AFLW, we will be able to support the delivery of important health and education programs directly into Warlpiri communities.”

The new partnership is an example of Newmont Tanami’s strategic community investment program, designed to support projects that build long-term sustainable benefits for communities in the Northern Territory.

Melbourne CEO Gary Pert was just as pleased to welcome an aligned organisation to the club.

“We have developed a strong connection with the Northern Territory over the years, and it’s fantastic to be able to welcome an organisation with a shared commitment to the region,” Pert said.

“The team at Newmont recognise the important work we do across Central Australia and have many ideas and activities of their own that can help grow this valuable outreach work.

“We look forward to Newmont integrating into and supporting the extension of our existing club community programs and working collaboratively over the next two years.”

Newmont will support gala days run by the AFLNT in and around Alice Springs, as well as AFL and AFLW talent development programs. These opportunities also foster employment and education pathways which will be extended to communities in Central Australia.
