DEFENDER Josh Wagner has signed a two-year deal with the club and been upgraded from the rookie list to senior list.
It means the club will have just two ‘live’ picks in the November NAB AFL Draft – barring any further list changes – given Wagner will be Melbourne’s third mandatory selection at the meeting.
The 22-year-old played 14 matches in his first AFL-listed season after being selected at No.6 in last November’s NAB AFL Rookie Draft.
Drafted from Aspley, the Queenslander produced some fine form in his first season after making his AFL debut against North Melbourne at Blundstone Arena in round three.
Wagner, who is the older brother of North Melbourne’s Corey, impressed as a rebounding defender for Melbourne and showed a cool head under pressure.
