Tackles: 123
Todd Viney’s season assessment
Brent had a really good, consistent year, winning our club best and fairest. He’s an in-and-under player, who led the club in clearances, while his kicking inside 50 was better. He’s a really important player for us going forward.

AFL: Round 1 v Sydney Swans
Brent had an outstanding game. His inside work was fantastic. Brent had 10 clearances and 13 first possessions. Some of his centre bounce clearance work - at critical times - was really important. Mark Williams
AFL: Round 2 v Hawthorn
Beamer was like he always is - hard at the ball. He spread really well, but probably wasn’t rewarded for it on occasions. Mark Williams
AFL: Round 3 v Brisbane Lions
AFL: Round 4 v Gold Coast Suns
Beamer was very good. He was excellent around the stoppages and gave us first use. It was a fine effort on the back of a tough week. Mark Williams
AFL: Round 5 - Bye
AFL: Round 6 v West Coast Eagles
Beamer didn’t have as big an impact on this game, as opposed to his performance against Gold Coast and his season so far. But he always led from the front with his intensity. Mark Williams
It was probably Beamer’s best game for the year. It was an outstanding effort, playing inside and winning 19 clearances. He also had 21 contested possessions and used the ball really well. His connection with Mark Jamar was exciting to watch. He stood up as a leader, which was very pleasing. Mark Williams
AFL: Round 8 v North Melbourne
Although Beamer didn’t have a big influence on this game, his leadership and ability to stay focused on his task was very pleasing. He worked hard to get to Andrew Swallow at the stoppages and played his role for the team. Mark Williams
Brent was solid again. His work in close was good, as was his spread away from stoppages, where he was rewarded with more possessions. He continually led from the front with his voice and physicality. Mark Williams
Beamer’s physicality was very good, as was his direction and leadership. But he needed to focus on his spread away from stoppages and his ball use. Mark Williams
AFL: Round 11 v Essendon
Beamer’s leadership and voice was very evident on the ground. He won the ball inside and used it very well. His spread away from stoppages was dynamic and it was great to see him kick two goals, including one outstanding effort near the end of the game. Mark Williams
AFL: Round 13 v Fremantle
Beamer’s team focus, while being tagged, was a highlight. We managed eight first possessions and six clearances, all under close attention. He continued to break up the play with his aggressive spread. He also forced the ball forward under pressure from stoppage. His tackling was outstanding. Mark Williams
Brent only had a fair day. His in-close work didn’t have much of an impact, and his defensive work wasn’t great. We needed more from him as one of our leaders. Mark Williams
Beamer was solid overall. He did a great job on Matt Priddis, who had limited impact on the game. There was a big change in Beamer’s mindset this week. He sacrificed his game for the team. He wasn’t always our hit to target at stoppage, which also allowed our younger midfielders to stand up and take responsibility for clearances. Mark Williams
AFL: Round 22 v Richmond
Again, Beamer had a specific role to play for the team. He carried that out very well. He was still able to win plenty of the ball, with 25 disposals. He involved himself in attack and defence, which was pleasing and he was very strong with his contested possessions. Mark Williams
Beamer had an outstanding game. He won 35 possessions and had nine tackles. His ability to win the ball at ground level and distribute it intelligently was fantastic. His leadership and aggressive play were highlights. Mark Williams
