MELBOURNE coach Simon Goodwin provides an update on all 44 players in the lead-up to the 2018 season. Be sure to check back each day for much of January, as we present this year’s squad …
Jesse Hogan
Jesse came back from the off-season in really good shape, after a challenging 2017, both personally and on the field with injury and suspension. He has put in a strong block of training pre-Christmas and we’re looking forward to continuing to build Jesse as a forward and midfielder as we move into the season.
Jayden Hunt
Jayden’s working well with the defenders. He had a few little interruptions throughout the first five or six weeks of pre-season, but he’s continuing to build a really good base of fundamentals within his game. Jayden was one of five of our players to feature in every home and away game last season. He now has 41 games under his belt.
Neville Jetta
Like Michael Hibberd, Neville returned to training about three weeks before Christmas, after representing Australia against Ireland in the International Rules Series. It was a great reward for his efforts in 2017. Nev’s a real professional and hasn’t missed a beat in the way he prepares and presents himself within the playing group.
Dion Johnstone
Now in his second year at the club, Dion is a young player who has changed his body shape considerably over the past 12 months, and in particularly the off-season and pre-season. He had a really good block of training pre-Christmas, as a small forward, and he’ll add some real aggression and pace to our forward half throughout 2018.
