MELBOURNE has named 20 of its 23 premiership players for Wednesday night’s Grand Final rematch at the MCG.

Michael Hibberd (calf), Harry Petty (calf) and Trent Rivers (knee) are the three Demons who will be absent for the clash with the Western Bulldogs, following some setbacks late in the pre-season.

James Jordon, who was the sub for the last game in September, will get a start this time around, while two hard-luck stories also get an opportunity on the big stage.

After going down with injuries at the backend of 2021, Jayden Hunt and Joel Smith return to the line-up for Melbourne.

Toby Bedford, Luke Dunstan, Adam Tomlinson and Sam Weideman make up the club’s emergency list for Round 1, with one of those boys to be named the medical sub one hour prior to the match.
