WITH just two weeks remaining until the Demons’ season opener, a Grand Final rematch on the MCG, Ed Langdon admits the anticipation is building.

“It’ll be pretty exciting – it’s definitely crossed my mind,” he told Melbourne Media on Wednesday.

“It’ll be nice to have friends and family there who couldn’t come to the Grand Final, so it’s very exciting.”

It has been over five months since Melbourne’s premiership glory, but the playing group finally got a taste of competitive football last Thursday.

In a clash with North Melbourne at Casey Fields, the Dees put their pre-season work to the test, showing they’re still hungry for improvement this year with an 88-point victory.

“It was good to be back out there playing against some opposition which was nice,” Langdon said.

“It was a good hit-out, everyone seemed to play pretty well, and our system looks in pretty good shape again.”

The Demons have one last chance to prepare for the home and away season when they face Carlton in an AAMI Community Series match at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night.

And Langdon hopes the group can take some momentum from this outing, into their clash with the Western Bulldogs.

“It’s another dress rehearsal for us – final dress rehearsal for Round 1,” he said.

“So, it’s pretty exciting and I’m sure we’ll perform well and be primed for Round 1.”

Members' tickets are now on sale for Melbourne’s home game against the Dogs, where the 2021 Premiership Flag will be unfurled.
