MELBOURNE'S Premiership Celebration on Sunday 5 December will now see two club legends come together to present the Jock McHale and Norm Smith Medals.
Former Melbourne coach Neale Daniher will present the premiership coaching medal to Simon Goodwin, an award that honours Collingwood coach James 'Jock' McHale, who steered his side to eight premierships.
An icon of the game, Daniher was the perfect fit to present the coaching achievement, having led the Demons for 223 games throughout the ‘90s and early ‘00s.
Admired as one of the league’s top contributors during his time, Daniher continues to be a huge inspiration among the Demon supporter base.
Melbourne great David Neitz will present the Norm Smith Medal to Christian Petracca, who was voted as the top individual performer during the 2021 AFL Grand Final.
Neitz, who is a member of Melbourne’s Hall of Fame, played 306 games for the club, holding the record for the most games played, most goals scored and the longest serving captain.
The former No.9 continues to be a significant member of the club, remaining an avid Dees supporter since his retirement in 2008.
“I would encourage everyone to come down and experience it – be a part of the group,” Neitz said.
“One of the great things this premiership has done is it’s untied so many people from past players – lots of people that have contributed to the club along the way.
“I think come down, embrace it and be a part of it.”
The premiership cup presenter is still yet to be announced, with a surprise member of the Melbourne alumni preparing to pass on the cup to the 2021 premiership team.
