Let's take a look at Adam Tomlinson's 2021...
No. AFL games: 6
Season Overview:
Tomlinson was a pivotal part of Melbourne’s strong start to the year, joining defenders Steven May and Jake Lever in the side’s dominant backline. His season was unfortunately cut short after he suffered an ACL injury in the Round 7 game against North Melbourne.
While the ACL injury may have abruptly ended Tomlinson’s 2021 on the field, the 28-year-old chose to instead make an impact off the field. The defender moved his attention to spending time in the coaches’ box. Using his ten years of experience within the league, Tomlinson continued to play an integral part in Melbourne’s rise to the top, in particular, mentoring young defender Harrison Petty.
Earlier in the year Petty touched on Tomlinson's impact in helping him slot into the famous backline alongside May and Lever.
"He's been unbelievable for me," Petty told AFL.com.au of Tomlinson's mentoring.
"We'll get together after games, watch my vision…that's me and Adam. We'll watch all of our vision, see what we can do better, see what we did well and just try to implement better things going forward."
Heading into his third season in the red and blue next year, the defender will look to further his rehabilitation in the hopes to make a return to play at some stage within the season.
