MELBOURNE defender Judd McVee will be sidelined for the next six to eight weeks after suffering a high-grade right hamstring injury.
McVee sustained the injury during a training session on Wednesday at Gosch’s Paddock, with scans since confirming the extent of the setback.
Melbourne General Manager of AFL Football Performance Alan Richardson said while the outcome was unfortunate, the club will take a measured approach to the 21-year-old’s recovery.
“Judd was having a great pre-season prior to his injury, so it’s disappointing for him to have this setback,” Richardson said.
“He’ll complete a thorough rehab program with the guidance of our medical and high-performance teams, and we’re confident he’ll be back in the early part of the season.
“Judd is a professional who attacks everything he does with a great attitude, and we know he’ll apply that same mindset to his rehab.”
Melbourne will welcome fans to Casey Fields this Friday, for the first Beyond Bank Family Series event of 2025.
The open training session will begin at 3pm, with a player signing opportunity from 6pm.
