Dear Members,
This is an important reminder to cast your vote in the 2024 Melbourne Football Club Board election before voting closes at 6:00pm on Sunday, 15 December (AEDT).
If you have already voted, thank you. If not, your participation is crucial in shaping the future of our club.
Since my appointment as President in September, the Board has made critical decisions that have generated positive momentum for the club. I’m delighted that:
- Sally Freeman, Chair of the Audit, Risk & Integrity Committee, has embraced an expanded role on the Board leading the Governance Working Group to implement recommendations from our review. Sally’s expertise in risk management, finance and governance is critical to ensuring strong and transparent leadership.
- Dr. Angela Williams has already made a significant impact in just two months on the Board with her deep and insightful health and governance perspective. A medical doctor and qualified lawyer with extensive AFL experience, Angela’s expertise spans physical, mental and social health and sports administration.
Chris Barlow and Steven Smith bring extensive board experience, leadership expertise and fresh ideas to strengthen our Board:
- Chris Barlow has decades of experience in retail, property and financial investment and brings invaluable stakeholder engagement capabilities to help secure funding for the Caulfield home base and grow our membership base.
- Steven Smith has a decorated legal career and a lifelong connection to our club as a former Melbourne player and past President of the Melbourne Cricket Club.
By supporting the Board’s strongly endorsed candidates – Sally Freeman, Dr. Angela Williams, Chris Barlow and Steven Smith – you are voting for a stable and united board with both continuity and fresh leadership that brings the diversity, skills, experience and dedication required to steer our club into a new era of sustained success.
This election is your chance to shape the future of our club. I encourage you to review the candidate profiles on the Director Elections tab of our website.
