MELBOURNE’S Thursday night game against Port Adelaide will mark a trio of milestones with Max Gawn, Ed Langdon and Charlie Spargo all reaching individual game-records.
Gawn will pull on the red and blue guernsey for the 150th time – another addition to a long list of achievements made by the ruckman in his 12-year career.
The 29-year-old first began his journey at Melbourne back in 2009 when he was drafted to the club with pick No.34 at the National Draft.
It wouldn’t be until 2011 that he would make his official AFL debut, but Gawn has certainly made his mark on both the club and the league since then.
The ruckman has collected a number of accolades including life membership of the Melbourne Football Club, four-time All-Australian honours and the AFLCA Player of the Year award.
Alongside Gawn, Langdon will celebrate his 100th game at the top level during Round 17.
Langdon started his career with the Fremantle Dockers and went on to play 68 games in the west before coming to Melbourne at the end of 2019.
The wingman has since settled into the Dees, becoming one of the side’s most reliable contributors and placing fourth in Melbourne’s 2020 Best and Fairest award.
Young Demon Charlie Spargo will round out the week of milestones, celebrating his 50th AFL game.
Spargo debuted for the club in 2018 and has had a break-out year in 2021, securing a regular spot in the Dees’ starting 22 as a pressure player up forward.
