MELBOURNE utility Colin Sylvia says last Tuesday's 'Debt Demolition' function, where the club raised over $2 million, was a moving experience.

Sylvia said seeing the passion from some of the club's most loyal supporters really "struck a chord" with him.

"From a player's perspective, it was a very touching night, going through the history of the club," Sylvia told melbournefc.com.au.

"The people backing it, the way the whole night was put together, the passion that was put into it and commitment made you feel proud of the club that you are playing for.

"To be involved in that night really inspired me."

Sylvia, who is currently playing as a forward for the Demons, urged the red and blue faithful to stick with the club, in what has been some difficult time.

"The thing with it all is that it's been another tough year for the footy club, with the $5 million debt and last year was the same with the injuries we had," Sylvia said.

"The last couple of years have been really tough for our footy club, but to go those nights, it keeps you in good spirits and that is what's really good about the club at the moment.

"We've got good people and good resources around the club, we're building our networks and trying to be transparent and a lot of changes are being made, but what people really need to get hold of is how exciting this place is going forward and to hang in there.

"Footy is about cycles – all teams go through it – and you look back at Hawthorn and Geelong four or five years ago and our turn will come."
