THE CASEY Demons’ VFLW side will begin their inaugural finals campaign this Saturday, when they take on Essendon in the first elimination final for the league.
In what will be a historical day for Casey’s VFLW program, the team will look to knock over the Bombers at their home base of Casey Fields and improve on their Round 2 loss to the side.
The Dees finished the home-and-away season fourth on the ladder with eight wins from their 12 matches, despite suffering an 11-point loss to the Bulldogs last weekend.
Captain Sammie Johnson said despite the defeat, she was confident the girls could learn from the outing and respond against the Dons.
“Unfortunately, we fell short which is disappointing going into finals next week,” Johnson told Melbourne Media.
“There is a lot that we can take out of this game though, like, our tackling pressure and making sure they stick, and when we move the ball the way we want to, we look dangerous, and we score quickly.
“We just need to come back and have a big session on the track and hit finals really hard.”
All matches in weeks one to three of the rebel VFLW Finals Series will be broadcast live through the VFL channels.
The Demons will take on the Bombers on Saturday 3 July at Casey Fields, with the first bounce at 12:00pm AEST.
