KEY FORWARD Mitch Clark is doubtful for Sunday’s clash against the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba with a foot injury.

Clark suffered a sprained foot during the third quarter of Melbourne’s 41-point win over Greater Western Sydney at the MCG on Sunday.

Football manager Josh Mahoney said Clark will have tests on Tuesday to determine the extent of his injury.

“Mitch Clark had preliminary scans this morning (Monday), which revealed a sprain of the right mid foot,” he said.

“He is unlikely to play this week.

“The scans also showed that his Lisfranc repair is stable. He will have further scans tomorrow (Tuesday) to determine the extent of the sprain.”

But another tall forward, recruit Chris Dawes, is a chance to return this week, most likely via Casey in the VFL.

Dawes has made just one official appearance for his new team, playing in Melbourne’s NAB Cup opener against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium in February.

The 2010 Collingwood premiership player has since battled a hamstring injury, but will be an important inclusion when available.

Melbourne is nearing a full strength list, with just Clark and Dawes on the injury list this week.
