MELBOURNE Football Club and Zurich will continue their successful partnership until at least the end of 2023, with the leading Australian insurer signing on for a further two years.
Since signing on in 2018, Zurich have been incredible supporters of the Demons, partnering with the club to support many of its key community initiatives, including donating to charity partners FightMND, BCNA and Reach Foundation.
As proud Co-Principal Partners across both the AFL and AFLW teams, earlier this month Zurich was awarded ‘Community Initiative of the Year’ at the Financial Standard MAX Awards for their ‘Goals for Good’ campaign. The initiative saw Zurich and their community mental health program Tackle Your Feelings donate over $20,000 worth of football equipment to 60 junior clubs throughout the AFLW season.
Melbourne CEO Gary Pert said the club was incredibly appreciative of Zurich’s ongoing support and their commitment to being a ‘whole of club’ partner.
“The last 12 months were particularly challenging and we are incredibly grateful to Zurich for their unwavering support to the Melbourne Football Club,” Pert said.
“To have Zurich commit to the red and blue for a further two years is an amazing show of faith and highlights the strength of our partnership.
“Zurich have always been committed to supporting our entire club and have been particularly strong supporters of our AFLW program and the work the club undertakes in the community space.
“They truly are a whole of club partner and we are very lucky to have such an engaged and aligned organisation on our team.
“I cannot thank Zurich enough for their support of our club and am excited to see what we can achieve together of the next few years.”
CEO of Zurich Live & Investments Justin Delaney said he was thrilled to extend the partnership with Melbourne.
“Since we first partnered with Melbourne in 2018, we’ve had the opportunity to experience the club’s fantastic culture, strong values, and passion first-hand. It’s exciting to see this reflected in their recent on-field performance,” said Delaney.
“We’re proud to be a ‘whole of Club’ partner, supporting both the AFL and AFLW teams. The Dees have been pioneers of the AFLW competition and the support of both the men’s and women’s teams strongly aligns with our diversity and inclusion values.
“It is fantastic to see recently appointed Melbourne President Kate Roffey and AFLW pioneer Daisy Pearce continue to champion female representation in football.
“Partnering with Melbourne helps to strengthen Zurich’s reach across many important diversity and community initiatives. We’re proud to have Neville Jetta as one of our Tackle Your Feelings’ ambassadors, helping to champion positive change in mental health. We are also proud to support the Dees’ efforts around important causes like FightMND and the Reach Foundation.
“The partnership continues to provide a platform to connect with our customers, partners, employees and Australian’s at large, while building our brand strength around Australia,” Delaney added.
Zurich was first founded in Switzerland in 1872 and has operated in Australia since 1920.
They have been a partner of the Melbourne Football Club since the 2018 season.
