TWO DEMONS have been named in the second iteration of the 22Under22 squad.
Eden Zanker and Tyla Hanks have both earned a spot in the extended AFL Players’ Association concept, which celebrates the best young talent in the competition.
The squad features a total of 31 players, with the final team to recognise the best 22 under the age of 22.
Zanker, who has need named in the ruck, has stepped her game up in 2021, particularly in the second half of the season.
Since moving into a midfield role, the 21-year-old has averaged 17 disposals and dominated the territory game, creating plenty of opportunities for her side up forward.
Making the side last year, Zanker is one of 11 players in the mix to earn a second call up.
Hanks, on the other hand, will be after her first nod – the classy midfielder was recognised in the squad last year but missed out on a spot in the final 22.
And after a standout 2021 season, she is certainly pushing her case.
Hanks has averaged 18 disposals to date, becoming an integral part of the Dees’ midfield mix with her composure and footy smarts.
She was recognised in Round 2 with a Rising Star Nomination and was selected in the All-Australian squad just last week.
The 22Under22 is a fan-voted award, with the football community having the power to select the final team.
Fans can cast their votes from April 7 to April 14, before the final side is announced on April 20.
