MELBOURNE has confirmed defender Colin Garland will miss six to eight weeks with an injured ankle and midfielder Rohan Bail will be sidelined for four to six matches.

The duo suffered injuries during Melbourne’s loss to North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium last Saturday.

Melbourne’s injury list has grown in recent weeks, with Jack Grimes (foot) and Jake Spencer (knee) already ruled out for the rest of 2011.

Ruckman Mark Jamar is three to five weeks away and young-gun Tom Scully is another three matches from resuming. The pair has knee injuries.

Vice-captain Jared Rivers will face a fitness test in the lead-up to Melbourne’s clash against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Youngster Jack Fitzpatrick will also miss the next 7-9 weeks with an ankle injury, which he sustained playing for Casey in round six (AFL equivalent round seven).
