MELBOURNE has clarified president Jim Stynes’ role with its football department, after comments made in The Age on Thursday.
Stynes was appointed to the vacant role of football director several weeks ago, following the departure of former board member Andrew Leoncelli.
With Stynes concentrating on the football aspects of the role, vice-president Don McLardy was also part of the appointment.
He will handle the administration side of the role.
The Stynes-led board has always had a football director since it came into office in mid-2008.
There has been no change to the role or to the level of interaction for the football director with the football department.
Melbourne’s football director represents the football department and communicates to the board on football matters.
It is not a management role.
