JACK Trengove says he’s never felt better entering an AFL season.
The former co-captain who was one of the stories of the season last year, when he returned from a debilitating foot injury, said his pre-season had gone to plan.
“This is the best I’ve ever felt individually and as a whole group and the way we are going about it,” he told Melbourne TV.
“I’m really enjoying every training session and trying to make the most of it.
“I feel like I’m running on borrowed time now. I don’t think anyone expected me to get back from my foot injury and be back doing full training.
“I just want to make sure that I am involved within the club going forward because it is exciting times and we are looking to achieve some great things.”
Trengove said new coach Simon Goodwin had made a genuine impact over the summer.
“Goody has got us in a really good headspace and he has a really good balance of being a great coach and a good mate as well – everyone really wants to play for him and do some great things,” he said.
“We’ve got ourselves at a place where we really are putting ourselves out there and should be striving for the best. I think our best certainly stacks up against the rest of the competition.
“You look at the young guys coming through and the way they keep improving, attacking every training session, it’s a really good place to be.”
