DRAFT night is a night where childhood dreams are made, and that proved true for three new members of the red and blue on Wednesday.
Throughout the 2020 National Draft, Melbourne selected Jake Bowey, Bailey Laurie and Fraser Rosman, who were equally as ecstatic in the moments after their names were called out.
Bowey, a versatile 175cm footballer, was the first youngster to join the Dees, being snapped up with pick No.21.
“It hasn’t sunk in yet,” Bowey told Melbourne Media.
“You go in with the unknown, so to be the first pick for Melbourne was pretty unreal.”

One pick later, Laurie became a Demon.
“I’m still a bit lost for words – my legs were shaking for a fair while after my name was called,” he told Melbourne Media.
“I’ve been dreaming of this moment for so long, so to get my name called out, I’m just so honoured and so happy at the moment.
“Mum and dad were over the moon that I get to stay in Victoria, and I had a couple of interviews with the Dees so they were one of my preferences.

And with pick No.34, which proved to be Melbourne’s final selection of the night, Fraser Rosman was secured.
“I looked at the screen for a bit not thinking that it was real, but I was so excited when it popped up,” he told Melbourne Media.
“I knew personally I wasn’t going to be in the top sort of range, but you never know going into draft night.
“I’m honoured to be picked up, no matter where I was, and to be picked up there by Melbourne, I’m really grateful.”
