THE MELBOURNE faithful couldn’t go past Christian Petracca in 2020, deeming him among the Dees’ best on more occasions than any other player.
Petracca was voted as the Hertz Fans’ Pick four times this season, with his efforts also earning him four second placings and one third.
In basing the selections on a 3-2-1 scoring system, the midfielder collected 21 votes.
Demon fans were most impressed with Petracca’s performances in Round 2, 5, 7 and 11, while he also polled in Round 6, 9, 14, 16 and 18.
The next best was vice-captain Jack Viney, who finished with 16 votes.
The hard-at-it midfielder was judged best afield four times (Round 1, 6, 8 and 16), with his Round 10 and 13 games also recognised.
Skipper Max Gawn and strong-bodied defender Steven May (14 votes each) were also regular top performers. The pair were acknowledged in seven games this season, selected as the best player on two and three occasions, respectively.
