FORWARD line development coach Paul Satterley looks at the Melbourne-listed players who featured in Casey’s loss to Werribee at Casey Fields on Saturday

Matthew Bate - Matthew worked really hard for the entire game - he played mostly in the midfield, with periods up forward, and led the team for inside 50s and tackles laid in a tight contested game, finishing with 19 disposals.

Lucas Cook - Lucas worked hard to give himself a chance of taking a few marks in difficult windy conditions, but he was unable to finish his work, with just the one mark for the game. Lucas will be looking forward to this week’s game, when he can continue to present himself as a lead up target, and compete hard in the air.

Tom Couch - These were perfect conditions for Couchy, given the amount of stoppages. While he was not as dominant as he has been in many games this year, he was still a good contributor, and his ability to get ball to boot quickly in congestion is excellent. With 20 disposals for the game, he is a real barometer for the Casey side.

Troy Davis - Troy had his hands full with Ben McKinley (3 goals) - however, in typical Troy style, he stuck to the task all day, competed and also worked to provide some offensive run, taking five marks in the process.

Jordan Gysberts - Playing on a wing early in the game, Jordan was very good, winning plenty of the ball, linking up through the midfield and taking some strong overhead marks (six in total). Jordan moved into the middle for the second half and, while not as effective, he remained involved and was one of the better performing Casey players on the day.

James Magner - As expected, James played a physical and combative game of football, leading the side in hardball gets and disposals (27). His ability to win the contested ball and feed it out to his teammates was very good, and he has finished his season off in fine style.

Brent Moloney - Brent was closely checked by Werribee's Ben Sharp and had very little influence on the game, registering just thirteen disposals. This was a disappointing game for Brent, who has experienced a frustrating season.

Jai Sheahan - Jai played as a key defender, and has improved significantly in the past month after a lean patch mid-season. He has made inroads on his ability to compete, negate and halve the one on one battles, and his kicking skills have provided the Casey side with plenty of drive.

Jake Spencer - With 16 disposals and 30 hit outs, Jake was very competitive, both in the ruck and around the ground, using his monster frame to full effect. He had a good battle with Majak Daw and his 16 disposals proved his most in a game for the season.
