MELBOURNE’S clash against Adelaide Crows at the MCG on Sunday will also coincide with City of Casey Round.

City of Casey mayor Cr Shar Balmes is encouraging Casey residents to show their support for Melbourne at the specially themed round, which showcases and promotes the City of Casey across Victoria and Australia.

“Through a 30-year partnership agreement with the City of Casey, the club undertakes a number of fantastic community programs throughout Casey, and more widely promotes the City of Casey to a larger audience through activities such as the City of Casey Round at the MCG,” Balmes said.

“In addition to the benefits of having an elite level team training at Casey Fields in Cranbourne East, the City of Casey is extremely proud to have Melbourne Football Club delivering a host of programs and initiatives locally, that provide a range of benefits for the Casey community.”

At the match, the partnership will be promoted on the scoreboard, on the banner and in the AFL Record.

Students from several City of Casey schools will form the guard of honour, as the players take to the field.

City of Casey manager sport and leisure Richard Amon said: “Melbourne Football Club is committed to genuinely connecting with the Casey community and implementing new activities, programs and initiatives for the community.”

“The City of Casey and the Melbourne Football Club have been working together in partnership for two years, delivering programs which meet community needs and provide exciting and meaningful learning experiences.

“The community partnership involves a host of wonderful programs, and has been estimated to have reached more than 40,000 Casey residents in the first year and 147,000 Casey residents during the second year of the partnership.”
