THE CLUB has launched another exciting initiative to promote and develop Youth Girls football - ‘Chick Kick Day’.

The initiative is a part of a new joint partnership with the South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL), and provided an opportunity for 50 girls aged 12 and under to participant in an all girls skill session.

Many of the participants went on to register to be a part of the SMJFL.

Victorian Women’s Football League (VWFL) All Australian Kara Donnellan was a star attraction at the clinic and said, “It is very exciting to be working with an AFL club that has such a strong community focus, particularly in the Youth Girls area”.
Donnellan is an ambassador of the Club’s partnership with the VWFL, alongside Brent Moloney.

The Melbourne Football Club has a long term commitment to supporting females who play and administer the game. Currently, the Club runs the Trident Girls Football Academy, along with an under 12 girls team that plays against North Melbourne each year.  The Club also has partnerships with the VWFL, South East Junior League, Youth Girls, and now the SMJFL.
