COACH Mark Neeld is hopeful exciting forward Liam Jurrah will show enough form for Casey this Saturday to be in contention for Melbourne’s round seven clash against Hawthorn.

The Demons play the Hawks on Friday, May 11, but Jurrah will play his first match for the year, after he sustained a wrist injury pre-Christmas.

The 2011 Melbourne leading goalkicker will line-up in the VFL curtain-raiser before Melbourne’s clash against Geelong at Simonds Stadium.

Speaking at AAMI Park on Friday, Neeld said he expects Jurrah to produce a “good consistent performance” for the Scorpions.

“He’s good to go and he’s ready to play,” he said.

“We’ll see how he goes and hopefully he’ll play well and he puts his hand up for AFL selection the week after, if he plays well.”

Meanwhile, Neeld confirmed former skipper Brad Green, who has missed the past two matches with a finger injury, would return via the VFL.

“Hopefully [he has] only one more week in the rehab group,” he said.

“He’s had the pins removed and the wire removed from his finger on Wednesday afternoon, so we’re expecting Brad to play the week after this one.”
