With less than two weeks before the celebration of ‘150 Heroes’ on Saturday, 7 June at Crown Palladium, well over 1000 tickets have been sold, and a complete sell out is fast approaching.
The Heroes themselves will play a major role in proceedings, interviewing and being interviewed by each other in what can only be described as an inner sanctum look at the players’ heritage in our club and the game. With the lineup including the likes of Lyon, Neitz, Flower, Schwarz, Barassi, Beckwith, Stynes, Robertson and McMahen, tales will be flying thick and fast throughout a memorable evening.
MELBOURNEfc Commercial Director, Brad Rowse, is enthusiastic about the atmosphere and excitement being generated in the last days before the function, and warns all who are still wavering that they run the danger of missing out completely. ‘We have sold well over 1000 tickets, and we are fast approaching the stage where we will need to turn supporters away. Given the interest in ‘Heroes’, we encourage anyone who is thinking about coming along to book immediately, in order to avoid disappointment. It is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime occasion for the Melbourne Football Club and all gathered at Crown Palladium on the night.’
Never a truer word was spoken. With the prospect of five of the Club’s six Brownlow Medallists being gathered in the room, with the opportunity to celebrate the 1950s and 1960s, and with the unveiling of a major publication paying tribute to the ‘Heroes’, this evening stands as one on which all hearts will be true for a one-in-150-year highlight. It is one night that will last a lifetime.
