MELBOURNE'S Brock McLean says the worst bit about missing the rest of the season is not being able to help the Demons as they re-establish themselves as a credible football side.

The young midfielder has played every game this season to good effect, and was an integral part of Sunday's win – just the second for the season – despite injuring his ankle in the first term.

"It's always frustrating when you're injured, especially a season-ending one which I've never had before, but with Jim Stynes coming onboard and a lot of young players coming through, I suppose it is a little bit more frustrating, because it's exciting to see a lot of these young players," he said.

"While we're not having the best season, I look at it as an exciting time for the club, and a good time to start fresh – start with a new board, a new president, a new group of coaches and a young group of players.

"It's very frustrating that I won't be able to be part of that group for the remainder of the year."

The Demons have already lost David Neitz (neck), Russell Robertson (achilles), Jared Rivers (abdominals) and Brent Moloney (shoulder) for the rest of the season, but still managed to beat Brisbane on Sunday to register just their second win of the year.

"It was amazing – Brisbane has been a bogey side of ours for a long time and since I've been at the club we haven't played them at the 'G, so that was good to be able to play a home game against Brisbane at the MCG rather than up at the Gabba.

"So to do it in front of our supporters, to have your supporters involved makes it more special for us, and more special for them.

"To be 11 points down with three or four minutes to go, a lot of people probably would have written us off then, and to be able to kick two goals in three or four minutes, and then hang on for a point win, was pretty amazing."
