MELBOURNE president Don McLardy says the club supports the AFL’s decision to address comments made by Carlton midfielder Brock McLean.

The former Demon spoke about Melbourne’s 2009 on-field performances, which was McLean’s last season at the club. He made them on Monday night’s On The Couch program on Foxtel.

McLardy issued the following statement on Tuesday afternoon regarding McLean’s comments.

“The Melbourne Football Club supports the decision by the AFL to interview Brock McLean in relation to comments he made on television last night (Monday),” he said.

Acting AFL chief executive officer Gill McLachlan said the AFL would interview McLean about his comments.

McLachlan said the AFL had reviewed McLean’s television interview on Tuesday.

“The AFL has resolved that this matter will be addressed by the general manager of football operations Adrian Anderson,” McLachlan said.

Melbourne and the AFL will not comment on the matter until the process has been completed and Anderson has concluded his work.
