Coach Mark Neeld said that Lucas Cook, Tom Couch, Troy Davis, Jack Fitzpatrick, Jordan Gysberts, Jai Sheahan, Josh Tynan and Leigh Williams are able to represent Casey in the second week of the VFL finals.
“This weekend, Casey actually starts its finals and it’s open for selection, because AFL is still going,” he told ‘The Coach’s Office’ on DeeTV this week.
“It’s a really good reflection of the way Brett Lovett has coached the group.
“Also in that is a mixture of some talent of the younger players - not quite ready to mix it with the big boys of the AFL, but certainly enough talent to get themselves on top of the ladder in the VFL, so that’ll be a really good experience playing finals.”
The Scorpions will play the Werribee Tigers at Casey Fields in the first qualifying final on Sunday at 2 pm.
Meanwhile, Neeld said the Melbourne list would undergo medicals and meetings with the coaches after its final match of the season, against Fremantle at Patersons Stadium on Saturday.
“It’s up to the coaches to review everything, and to continually plan forward and plan pre-season,” he said.
“We’ll have a look at what the draft might bring, and everything else that comes with that.”
Players will return for Melbourne’s best and fairest event on September 13.
