THE MCG CAME alight on the evening of Melbourne’s Friday night encounter with Carlton in round 10, well before any football was involved.

With Olivia Newton-John taking to the stage, joined by former Melbourne star Russell Robertson, and ultimately by club president Jim Stynes, resplendent in horns and ready to sing, the concert was a highlight of the evening.

Tunes from ‘Xanadu’ and ‘Grease’ rang out, the enthusiastic crowd singing along and cheering the trio as they went from ‘Magic’ to ‘You’re The One That I Want’.

It set the stage for ongoing donations to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre.

With $573 000 raised in the month of May, thanks go out to all those who have donated, and particularly to the generosity of Melbourne supporters, who got behind the cause and were in fine voice on the night.

Of course, the effort doesn’t stop there, and we encourage the donations to continue - visit www.oliviaappeal.com or call 1800 220 210 to make your contribution today.
