BALL movement coach Mark Williams runs through the 22 players who played in Melbourne’s drawn match against Sydney Swans at the MCG on Sunday

Rohan Bail: Rohan did a great job on Josh Kennedy. He worked him over and ran hard with him and ran hard off him. Kennedy cramped in the last quarter, so we released Rohan in the last quarter, so we could try to use his run. And he ended up running well in the last term.

Clint Bartram: Barty was outstanding down back. He shut down Ben McGlynn, after he was dangerous early.

Jamie Bennell: Jamie was very lively and it was great to see him come back into form. He kicked a fantastic goal on the run after taking the game on. He also hit some targets with precision. It was pleasing to see him do well.

Aaron Davey: Aaron did very well. He was tagged heavily early, but once he got up the ground and found the footy, he was able to use the ball. Aaron remains so important to the way we play.

Lynden Dunn: Dunny kicked 2.4 from six scoring shots. It was a solid performance from Lynden, although he would’ve liked to have kicked straighter. He just needs to capitalise on those opportunities, because he could’ve had a very good day.

Colin Garland: Col was outstanding on Adam Goodes, who is a superstar of the game. Col worked his way into the match and was forced into a lot of one-on-one contests with Goodes. He kept Goodes reasonably quiet, when he threatened several times.

Brad Green: Brad was courageous in his first game as captain. He played multiple positions again and not surprisingly made an impact.

Jack Grimes: Jack was really solid, after an impressive pre-season. He intercepted some marks and gave us good drive from the backline.

Mark Jamar: Russian had a fantastic game, winning 29 hit outs. He returned to form and should take greater confidence from that performance.

Neville Jetta: Neville produced some exciting passages of play. He was hard-at-it and won some really important contested ball. He was outnumbered on occasions, but worked hard throughout.

Nathan Jones: Nathan played his role. He was on the wing and covered the ground well. He was good in some one-on-one contests.

Liam Jurrah: Liam was dangerous at times and finished with two goals. He didn’t have a great impact, but the fact that he was in our forward line meant he demanded a key defender. He almost took another mark-of-the-year contender.

Joel Macdonald: Joel was very solid for us down back. He gave good support to his teammates down in defence.

Addam Maric: Addam has had a very good pre-season and he did some good work, but didn’t make the most of his opportunities in this game.

Stef Martin: Stef was very good. He played multiple roles and had an impact in each area. When he went down back, he was solid, and when he played in the ruck, he really competed hard. Stef also made an impact when he went down back.

Brent Moloney: Brent had an outstanding game. His inside work was fantastic. Brent had 10 clearances and 13 first possessions. Some of his centre bounce clearance work - at critical times - was really important.

Ricky Petterd: Ricky came on as our substitute at three quarter-time, replacing Addam Maric. He immediately had an impact. He was involved in three scoring shots during the final quarter.

Jared Rivers: Jared played deep on Sydney’s taller forwards. He played almost 100 per cent of the match and was solid without starring.

Colin Sylvia: Col spread hard and played well, particularly in the second quarter. He kicked a goal and was very good at winning the ball and sending it inside 50. He also produced some long, penetrating kicks.

Luke Tapscott: Tappy had a really good debut. His kicking was outstanding. He will continue to develop and fit into the backline. He was very good in his first match.

Jack Trengove: Given his preparation - after hurting his ankle in the pre-season - he got himself up to play a very important role for the team. Some of his contested marks were pretty important - and came at key moments in the match.

Jack Watts: Jack had a solid game. He was good with some of his contested work and he laid three tackles, while he made five spoils when he was outnumbered.
