THE MELBOURNE Football Club is pleased to announce that Stefan Martin and Cale Morton have committed to the Club, signing contract extensions until the end of 2013.

Morton, originally selected at No.4 in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft has played 64 games since making his debut against Hawthorn in Round 1, 2008. The 21-year-old battled an injury interrupted 2011, but still managed to play 14 games for the Demons.

Martin, who was selected at No.3 in the 2008 NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft, has played 50 matches for Melbourne. He reached his half-century milestone against Port Adelaide in round 24 this year.

The versatile tall was widely regarded as one of the AFL’s most improved players in 2011. In the ruck, he stepped up in the absence of injured 2010 All-Australian Mark Jamar, while he also impressed down back and up forward.

General Manager of List Management Tim Harrington said, “We are pleased that Cale and Stef have committed to the Club. Stef had a breakout season in 2011 and showed that he can play a variety of roles in our team. We still believe he has further improvement in his game.

“Cale is an important player. His versatility is really positive and because of his age, his best years are still ahead of him.”
