MELBOURNE is working in partnership with the City of Casey, Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, the South East Local Learning and Employment Network, Sport and Rec Victoria and the Smith Family, to establish a Youth Group based in Cranbourne specifically for Koorie students.

The Koorie Youth Group aims to give Koorie students the opportunity to mingle and share their experiences, as well as learn about their cultural heritage.

It aims to further engage - and reengage - indigenous students from the Casey region, as truancy is a major concern for schools.

The students will participate in a range of activities including but not limited to; traditional/contemporary dance, traditional art, football, dream time stories, leadership activities and camps to Halls Gap and Mt Kosciuszko.

Melbourne’s indigenous players will support the program and work with students encouraging them to gain confidence and be proud of their heritage.

The Koorie Youth Group runs from 3.30 pm - 5.30 pm every Tuesday afternoon at Casey Fields.
